Can anybody recommend some singers like Amelita Galli-Curci or Alessandro Moreschi that I may like?

We're talking primordial recordings made in the early 20th century. I find them timeless and magnificent things to pay attention to to -- I feel like I go back to the past!

Accurate his voice is fascinating, but he was a terrible singer, and the recording standing doesnt help...

Is there a recording of Ave Maria by Alessandro Moreschi that is not sung by the Last Castrato?

I desideratum to have a recording of it and I don't like how the other version sounds.

Moreschi IS the last castrato. (Or was, anyway.) The Ave Maria he sings is by French composer Charles Gounod. It is often referred to as the "Bach/Gounod" Ave Maria, because the accompaniment is based on Johann Sebastian Bach's 1st prelude.

With perceive to Moreschi, some one wrote of "the one sorrowful utter recording that exists". Unhappy it is, but it's not one, it is one of about a dozen. We have to about that Moreschi was NOT an opera choir girl and indubitably does not seem in any appreciation what the "choicest of the butchered" sounded like. These recordings are nothing more than mutant show twaddle or, to be sort, documented curiosities. Gruesome squealing and mushy moved musicality and interpretations. I don't accept this thoughtful of singing would have appealed to anyone in any century. One of many peculiarities is in Tosti's "Ideale" which employs the passato remoto verb strained.
