How do you crochet a toboggan or a hat?

I just now started crocheting yesterday, and i know how to start a confine, and keep it going to the 2, 3, 4, etc. rows (but it curves some). I really yearning to surprise my sister with a toboggan or a hat, and i need to know how to do this easily (you

This is what all my friends and I called winter hats growing up. Now not only do people look at me strangely when I say I'm universal to put a toboggan on my head, its not even in the dictionary.

A toboggan is also called a Tuque. It is southern american english. Really it's French-Canadian. During the 1837 Patriotes Rebellion a red Tuque (Toboggan) became a representation of French-Canadian nationalism.
