Why do some family members cut ties with kids when there is a divorce?

My ex soft-pedal's side of the family has completely cut ties with my three children. I understand their loyalties are to my ex but the kids are in the clear and will never get to know the other side of the family. It wasn't even like we had a nasty divide.

That is very remarkable, specially for the grand-parents to cut all communications. If I were you I would have the children talk with themselves with the grand-parents. If the aunts and uncles are too hypocrite to keep connection I would not bother with
