I have a military ball for my JROTC entity coming up soon. we are an Air Force unit, and for the mess doctor reprimand a cumberbund is worn. My sargent has a pleated one, and you are supposed to enervate it with the pleats facing either up or down, but

The pleats fitting up so that they can catch the food you drop....

That's how I always remembered it.

I was a calling-card-carrying cumberbund collector but then I quit collecting when cumberbund collecting became cumbersome. Now I assemble curious kumquats. Kids get a kick out of my curious kumquat garnering. I consider it a calling.
